Oats contain both insoluble and soluble fiber. I often think of insoluble fiber as a huge broom, helping collect and pull food through our intestines. Soluble fiber on the other hand dissolves in water to form a gel-like material. Together, both insoluble and soluble fiber, help produce regular movement in a comfortable consistency.
Try this for breakfast to promote a regular, daily schedule!
Chocolate Overnight Oats
- ½ cup whole oats
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk (or other milk of preference)
- 1 tablespoon cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon flaxseeds
- A couple dried prunes, chopped
- Optional: ½ tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- Pinch of sea salt
Combine all of the ingredients in a jar or bowl. Place the dish in your refrigerator overnight and then enjoy in the morning! Do not forget to enjoy alongside a cup of water too.
